TIL I was over-exfoliating my own face for 6 months

I kept wondering why my skin looked dull and tight no matter what products I used. Then a client asked me what I was using and when I said a physical scrub every day, she just stared at me. I switched to a mild enzyme peel once a week and my skin actually started looking normal again. Any other estheticians here keep doing the wrong thing to their own face?

Accidentally used nail glue on my hairline once. Did you see any redness?

Wait, are you sure it's the exfoliation that was the problem? Lots of people go years scrubbing their face daily and their skin is fine. Maybe your skin just changed for some other reason. Could be the seasons, a new water filter, or just coincidence. Sounds like you found what works for you, which is great, but that doesn't mean daily scrubs are bad for everyone. Sometimes people blame the wrong thing and miss what's really going on.

Good point valthomas. People act like skincare is one size fits all but it really isn't. @stella307 probably has a point too about different things triggering reactions. My skin changed completely after I moved to a new city - turned out the water was way harder here. Kept blaming my products for months before figuring it out. Sometimes you gotta look at the whole picture before deciding what caused something.
