Showerthought: Labeling every single bill in our budget with a due date on the calendar saved us $180 in late fees last year alone
I tried using a budgeting app for years but kept missing payment dates until my wife stuck a paper calendar on the fridge and color-coded everything, now we actually pay stuff on time and I'm wondering what other simple paper tricks I'm ignoring.

That paper calendar trick is a classic example of what I call "analog anchoring" where physical stuff just works better for certain things than digital does. Phones and apps are great until they're not, but a piece of paper on the wall forces you to actually look at it every single day. It connects to this bigger thing I've noticed where people try to overcomplicate simple stuff with technology when the low tech solution is actually the most effective. Your brain processes physical objects differently than notifications on a screen, so seeing those colored squares triggers something that makes you take action instead of just swiping away an alert. Sometimes the smartest thing you can do is stop trying to find the perfect app and just tape a piece of paper to the fridge.
