My grandma's cornbread recipe has been passed down for 4 generations now, and I just realized I'm the only one who still makes it.
It hit me when I was teaching my niece last week, and I'm worried this simple, perfect recipe might actually stop with me, so has anyone else had to figure out how to get the younger family members interested in the old dishes?

Four generations and you're the only one still making it? That's a serious wake up call. I had to start doing a whole cooking day with my cousins' kids, just to get them to even taste the old stuff.

Honestly though, maybe it's okay if some recipes fade out. Not every old dish is worth the effort, and people's tastes change for a reason. Forcing kids to learn meals they don't even like just creates a chore, not a happy memory. Sometimes letting go of tradition makes room for new family favorites that everyone actually enjoys.

Ngl, "wake up call" made me see it differently.
