I finally saw why so many people's pockets are in the wrong place

I was at the park in Denver last weekend, and I kept seeing people shove their phones into their front jeans pocket and then have to do this weird half-squat to sit down. The pocket is placed right where your hip bends. I looked it up, and on most basic jeans patterns, the front pocket opening is only about 4 inches down from the waistband. If you move that opening just an inch and a half lower and angle it slightly forward, the whole thing works better. Has anyone else tried drafting a pattern with a lower front pocket placement?

Ever notice how you basically have to unload your pockets before you can drive? My phone always jabs me right in the thigh when I sit in the car. A lower pocket opening seems like such a simple fix for a daily annoyance.

Right, and the worst part is when you fish for your phone and it's already halfway down your leg, so you're like clawing at your own thigh like a weirdo. I swear pants designers don't actually sit down in their own products. A lower pocket opening would be amazing, but then you'd probably lose your keys all the time. It's a trade-off, I guess.
