Rant: Got called out for my post-hole digger technique on a job in Phoenix last summer.

The foreman said I was 'fighting the tool' by forcing it straight down, and showed me how to rock it slightly to clear dirt faster. Anyone else get a piece of simple advice that totally flipped your method?

Ever notice how the best tricks feel wrong until they click? I was so used to muscling through that learning to work with the tool's weight felt like cheating. That little rock makes all the difference once you stop fighting it.

Totally get that! It's like your brain has to unlearn the hard way first. The click when it finally makes sense is the best part.

Oh man, @finley777 put it perfectly about that unlearning process! But I gotta say, that little rock you mentioned is actually a tool's balance point, not a separate thing - once you stop fighting the weight, you're just finding where it naturally wants to go. It's kinda like how I had to get past thinking more force equals better control.
