I spent $80 on a specific torque wrench for my mower's blade and it saved me from a stripped bolt disaster.

I mean, I used to just crank on it with a regular wrench, but after reading the manual and seeing it needs 85 ft-lbs, I got the right tool and it went on smooth without any damage, so has anyone else had a simple tool change a job like that?

My uncle always said the right tool makes you look smart, not just strong. He had a story about using a cheap socket on his truck's lug nuts and rounding them off completely. Getting the proper impact socket changed everything for him, and he never fought with a wheel again. It's amazing how a small investment can turn a frustrating job into a simple one.

Ngl, @holly_williams, seems a bit extra for a mower.

That thing about "the right tool makes you look smart, not just strong" really hit me. I used to be the type that thought a normal wrench would do just fine for anything, and I'd just muscle it on. But after I stripped a bolt on my old car's alternator because I wasn't using the right size socket, I changed my tune fast. It was a cheap lesson in the end, but it made me realize that buying the right tool once saves you from a whole lot of cussing and extra work later. Your uncle sounds like he knew what he was talking about.
