Dropped $250 on a laser level for a big tile job and it was a total mistake.
Got a contract for a 900 sq ft kitchen and dining area. Figured a laser would speed up layout. Set it up, marked my lines. Halfway through, the battery died and threw the whole line off by an eighth. Had to pull up a whole section. Now I just use my old 6 foot level and a chalk line. Anyone have a laser they actually trust?

Well, that's why I always have a chalk line in my back pocket.

My DeWalt laser has been solid for three years now. I just keep a spare battery charging on the truck. Never had it drift on me like that.

So you're telling me you've never had a laser drift on you in three years? Maybe you just don't use it enough to notice, or you're not checking it against a level. I've been through three different brand lasers that all started throwing false lines after about 18 months of regular framing work. The worst part is, you don't catch it until you're already done with the layout and something looks off. A chalk line never lies, and it doesn't need a charging schedule either.
