I watched a DIY video from Springfield where they glued laminate right over old carpet padding
The guy said it would 'save time and money' but that floor is going to buckle in a month when the padding compresses. I've had to fix two jobs like that this year already, and both homeowners swore the online tutorial made it look easy. What's the wildest shortcut you've seen someone try to take on a floor?

Peel-and-stick on a ceiling is bad, but I saw someone use duct tape to "fix" a squeaky hardwood board.

Seen that exact move at a buddy's place once. Three weeks later the board was popping back up and the tape was a sticky mess. Does anyone actually test these fixes before they show up online?
