Indie bands and the whole sleep thing now

It used to be cool to run on no sleep after shows. These days, I see way more posts about getting proper rest, and honestly it's a good change lmao.

Wyatt_perez has a point about the old van sleep bragging, but turning it into some deep cultural shift feels like making a big deal out of people just growing up.

Saw an interview where a drummer said his back gave out after ten years of van floors and bad food. He straight up said the "suffering for art" thing was dumb and that he plays better shows now with a real bed and less booze. It just seems like common sense won out. The old way wasn't some noble tradition, it was just being bad at taking care of yourself. Maybe the shift is just people finally admitting that.

Remember when bands would brag about sleeping in the van between cities? My friend toured with some indie guys years ago and they treated total exhaustion like a badge of honor. The weird shift now is seeing bands post their pre-show meditation or their specific hotel room tea routine. It's a whole different vibe, like the rockstar thing got swapped for being a wellness guru on the road. Honestly, hearing a band like Beach Fossils or DIIV talk about getting eight hours is way less surprising now than it would've been a decade ago. Guess we all grew up and realized being tired sucks, lmao.
