Oh man, the "$200 faucet for a $15 fix" guy sounds like he's got a side hustle in making people feel dumb. I'm convinced those guys have a secret handbook called "How to Upsell the Clueless." One time I went in for a simple washer replacement and walked out with a whole new plumbing system and a vague sense of regret. My wife still brings it up at parties like it's a war story.

Dude, your wife telling that story at parties is literally my life. I walked into a hardware store once for a roll of duct tape and somehow left with a new toilet seat and a box of those little rubber feet for my coffee maker. Still not sure what happened. My buddy still jokes I have a "contractor's curse" where I cant leave a store without something I didn't need.
