Hot take: paying $40 for a premium trash can was totally worth it

I bought a Simplehuman trash can for $40 at a discount store and people keep telling me I overpaid for something that holds garbage. But it's been 8 months and the lid closes silently, no gross smell leaks out, and the bag fits perfectly every time without slipping down. Has anyone else spent more than they wanted on a household item that actually paid off?

Swear I felt the same way when I caved and bought one of those fancy pull-out cabinet trash setups. Mine wasn't on sale, paid close to full price, and my wife still gives me crap about it sometimes. But three years in and the lid still closes soft, no wrestling with bags that tear halfway out, and honestly the lack of smell alone is worth it. Some stuff you just gotta pay for the quiet little things that make daily life less annoying. You're not wrong for spending that, trust me.
