I was taking out the trash this morning and heard my neighbor through the fence bragging about how their pans are "sparkling clean" after using steel wool. They said they go through a pack every 2 months. I almost dropped my trash bag. Has anyone else had to bite their tongue stopping someone from ruining their cookware? What do you say without sounding like a jerk?
Ngl I was desperate to get the baked-on grease off my favorite skillet so I listened to him. I left it in a bleach solution for like 2 hours and it stripped the nonstick coating completely. I used to think you had to wring out the sponge bone dry after doing dishes. I kept having sponges get that sour smell after three days no matter what. My neighbor across the hall in our apartment complex saw me squeezing the life out of it one day and laughed. She told me to keep it damp but not soaking and stick it in the microwave for 2 minutes every morning. I tried it last week and the sponge has been fine for 8 days straight now with zero smell. Also she said those mesh sink mats are just bacteria hotels so I threw mine out too. Has anyone else been doing the microwave trick wrong this whole time?
