Just overheard my neighbor say they scrub their nonstick pans with steel wool every single time - I had to say something

I was taking out the trash this morning and heard my neighbor through the fence bragging about how their pans are "sparkling clean" after using steel wool. They said they go through a pack every 2 months. I almost dropped my trash bag. Has anyone else had to bite their tongue stopping someone from ruining their cookware? What do you say without sounding like a jerk?

Hang on, is this really a hill worth dying on? I mean if they're already through two packs of steel wool and still have pans to scrub they probably don't care about the coating anyway. You said the right thing by not saying anything.

I had to stop myself from doing the same thing with my own sister... she tossed a pack of steel wool into my kitchen drawer like it was normal.
