Just noticed my soda can roses look way better after I started using a different cutting technique

I've been making these little roses from crushed Coke cans for about 4 months now, selling them at a craft fair in Portland. Last week I switched from using regular scissors to an X-Acto knife for the petals, and the edges are so much cleaner... no more jagged lines or weird bends. It made me wonder if anyone else has tried different tools for shaping can aluminum into flowers?

Have you noticed if the cleaner edges actually make the petals hold their shape better over time? I tried an X-Acto knife once but had trouble getting consistent curves without tearing the aluminum. Do you do anything special to keep the metal from flexing too much while you're cutting?

Started doing the same thing with my own can roses a few weeks back. The X-Acto knife makes such a clean cut, but I had the same issue with tearing until I put a piece of thick cardboard under the metal. Total game changer.
