Picked up whittling last winter and accidentally made a spoon that actually works

I grabbed a cheap whittling kit from a hardware store in Lincoln back in January just to kill time during a snowstorm. After a few rough tries, I carved a spoon out of basswood and it's surprisingly good for stirring soup. But here's the weird thing: I learned I'm way more patient with wood than with people, ha. Has anyone else picked up a hobby and discovered something about themselves they didn't expect?

Heard some lady on a trucker radio show talking about how carving wood teaches you to work with mistakes instead of getting mad at them. Think she was right. Made a crooked handle on my first spoon and just kept going with it, ended up looking kind of rustic. Never knew I had that kind of patience in me, always been a get-it-done-fast type.

That crooked handle probably made it more comfortable too. Funny how that works.
