Warning: I once called small space gardens pointless, now I'm wrong

I always said you need a yard to grow anything decent. But seeing my buddy get a full crop of peppers from just two pots on his fire escape changed my mind. Now I've got spinach and cherry tomatoes going in my own window boxes, and they're doing great. Honestly, it's crazy how much you can fit in a tiny spot lmao.

Yeah, reminds me of when I tried growing basil inside last spring. I was so proud of that little plant until it just burned up, crispy leaves and all. My apartment gets this brutal afternoon sun, and I guess the window magnified it or something. Kinda like @alexbrown's friend with the mint, some setups just don't work. My neighbor across the hall has the same layout though, and her rosemary is huge. It's all about finding the right spot, I guess.

Try growing herbs right on your kitchen counter.

Growing herbs right on the kitchen counter sounded perfect for my friend. She got a little mint plant for her window sill. It started well but then got those tiny flies all over. Had to toss the whole thing out after a week. She says the counter is for coffee makers, not farms.
