Had to pick between keeping my old beater or going full restoration on my uncle's wrecked '89 Camaro
I chose the Camaro because my uncle always talked about fixing it, spent about $4,200 so far and the frame's still bent in a spot I didn't notice until last month. Has anyone else taken on a project car that turned out way worse than you thought?

Man I felt that "way worse than you thought" part deep in my soul. I bought a '78 Trans Am from some guy on Craigslist who swore it just needed a fuel pump, and three years later I've got the engine pulled, the interior stripped to bare metal, and a rust hole in the floor big enough to fit my whole toolbox through. The frame thing you're dealing with sounds brutal though, at least mine was mostly rot I could see coming. My wallet's been crying for so long I think it's just given up on me at this point.

Jump in with a decent wire brush and a grinder before you go any further. That floor rust will keep spreading if you don't cut it out and patch it now. Trust me, you don't want to be doing that job twice.
