Bent a flathead screwdriver prying open a paint can... should I fix it or just buy a new one?

One screwdriver bent? That's like catching a fish on your first cast, it's all downhill from there. I've got a whole drawer of "specialized" screwdrivers that look like they've been through a war, including one I tried to use as a chisel on a concrete wall (don't ask). Honestly, for the $5 it costs to get a new one, you're better off just buying a replacement and keeping the bent one as a reminder of your paint can victory. Unless you really enjoy spending an hour heating it up and hitting it with a hammer for that perfect "custom" profile.

lilychen's drawer of war-torn screwdrivers sounds like my garage, except mine includes a flathead i tried to pry a floorboard with and it just turned into a pretzel. i mean, for $5 i could buy a new one, but where's the story in that? that bent screwdriver is now a trophy, a lesson in why you don't use tools for stuff they're not made for. plus, heating it up and hammering it sounds like a fun way to spend a Saturday if you've got nothing better to do. honestly, @lilychen, your concrete wall chisel idea makes me feel a little better about my own bad choices.
