Was skeptical about blocking acrylic yarn but now I'm a convert

Ngl, I spent years avoiding blocking my acrylic projects because I thought it was just for wool. My friend at the local knit circle kept telling me to try steam blocking on a scarf I made last winter. Honestly, I figured it would just melt the yarn or make it look weird. Finally gave in after she showed me before and after photos of her own blanket. Tried it with a cheap garment steamer on a half-finished baby blanket and the difference was wild. The stitches flattened out and the fabric felt way softer. Has anyone else had that moment where they realized a technique they avoided actually works?

Steam blocking ruined the drape on my last blanket, never again.

Oh, I feel this. I once tried to block a sweater and ended up with something that looked more like a placemat than a wearable garment.
