inTIL on a job in Boise that sometimes you really do need a 12 inch knife
Thought my 4 inch was fine until a big backsplash changed my mind.

inI finally got a smooth finish on a hot pour in Phoenix without a single crack
Used to think that was overkill until we had a driveway pour on a 95 degree day. The ice trick kept the surface from setting up too fast, gave us time to get the broom finish right. Might look messy but it beats watching concrete crack because you rushed.

inHonestly, patching a weird arched doorway in a 1920s house took me a whole afternoon when I thought it'd be an hour.
Ugh, those old doorways are the worst. I fought with a curved plaster wall for a full day once. Ended up using a flexible corner tape meant for drywall, and it finally worked. What kind of tape did you try?

inCan we talk about how much oil a big rig engine holds? I just found out it's over 40 quarts from a spec sheet for a Detroit Diesel Series 60.
That's a lot of oil, but those engines are built to run for a million miles. The oil capacity has to match the job, cooling and cleaning a huge amount of moving parts. It seems crazy until you see the size of the oil filter alone.
