Turned my nose up at air frying frozen chicken wings, now I'm eating my words after 3 batches

I was that person who swore that air fryers were just overpriced toaster ovens and could never match a real deep fryer for wings. But my neighbor brought over a batch she did in her Ninja at 400 degrees for 12 minutes, flipping halfway, and they were actually crispy without being greasy. I tried it myself with a bag of frozen party wings from Costco and shocked at how the skin puffed up. The texture is not exactly the same as oil fried, but it's close enough that I don't miss the mess and the smell of used oil in my kitchen. Has anyone else found a frozen wing brand that works better than others in an air fryer?

Oh man, I was the exact same way. I remember telling my brother his air fryer was just a tiny convection oven and that I'd never give up my deep fryer. Then I caved and tried a batch of Foster Farms wings at 380 for 15 minutes and literally ate my words with hot sauce dripping down my chin. The skin gets all bubbly and crisp in a way I didn't expect. My only regret is not buying a bigger basket because now I'm doing three batches just to feed myself and pretending it's for "meal prep.

Just read @willowc60's post and I'm still shocked you only do three batches for yourself!

My buddy Derek told me he bought an air fryer just for chips and now he's making everything from chicken thighs to leftover pizza in it, swears he'll never go back to the oven. He said he even swapped his deep fat fryer for a bigger air fryer after the first week, which is about what @terryr46 has to look forward to.
