A new guy in our hangar in Denver said something that made me rethink my whole approach to logbook entries.

We were closing up after a long day on a 737 check. I was signing off a routine tire change, just the usual quick notes. This mechanic, maybe a year out of school, looked over and asked, 'Do you ever write down the torque value you actually set, not just that you torqued it?' I told him the book says to torque it, so I write 'torqued per spec.' He paused and said, 'Yeah, but what if the wrench was off? Writing the number you saw makes the next guy's job safer.' It happened six months ago, but I still think about it. Now I jot down the actual foot-pounds right next to the sign-off. It takes two extra seconds. Has anyone else had a small comment like that change how they do a basic task?

Sounds like extra work for no real gain lol

Honestly, that seems a bit over the top to me. Like @troy_ross said, it's extra steps, and if your tools are calibrated, what's the point? Feels like making a simple job harder.
