I saw a barber in Austin use a different way to hold his clippers

He was doing a skin fade on a client and kept his thumb on the side of the clipper, not the back. He said it gave him more control on the curves. Do you guys change your grip for different cuts?

Yeah, I do the same thing for tapers, it just feels way more natural.

But you lose so much control that way.

Control is overrated. My last haircut looked like a helmet until I stopped trying to micromanage every snip. Let the person with the scissors do their job. Sometimes you gotta just close your eyes and hope for the best.
