Tried scheduling jobs thru a calendar app vs a whiteboard and the whiteboard won every time

I spent 2 months using Google Calendar for cleaning appointments and kept double booking myself, went back to a physical whiteboard on my wall and I haven't messed up a single time since, anyone else find simple tools work better for small operations?

Gonna push back on that, @wren806. I keep my whole crew's schedule in a shared digital calendar and it actually saves me from the whiteboard chaos of people erasing stuff by accident or running out of space. Digital tools let me color code by job type and set alerts so nobody misses a start time. A whiteboard might feel honest but it can't send a push notification to my guys' phones when I reschedule.

Our crew tried the same thing three years ago with a shared Google Calendar, and we had to scrap it because the alerts would come through as spam at 6 AM for something that didn't change until noon. The thing is, you can sort of get the best of both worlds if you use a big whiteboard for the daily overview and then snap a photo of it at the end of the day to upload into a digital file. I've found that helps the guys who need to look ahead while still letting us have that quick glance space when we're all standing around the trailer in the morning. The color coding is nice but it only works if everyone actually checks their phone, and half my crew leaves theirs in the truck because they don't want to get dust and concrete on the screens. Keep what works for you, but I'd say don't throw the whiteboard out just yet.

Read a piece on how some construction foremen still use paper for complex scheduling because digital apps crash or glitch out exactly when you need to update things. Idk, maybe it's just me but a whiteboard lets you see the whole week at a glance without having to toggle between screens. I've had the same problem with my crew's job calendar where my phone app would freeze mid-swipe and I'd miss a deadline. Physical tools just feel more honest somehow, less stuff to break or mess up. Stick with what works for you, man.
