Band saw blades can be tricky if not handled right. I read a safety manual last year that stressed proper tension and guard use. Without those, the blade can snap or kick back pretty hard. Saw a video where a loose blade caused a nasty accident. Always check the setup before making any cuts.

Ugh, don't remind me. I definitely learned about proper tension the hard way after my own dumb mistake. That sound a blade makes when it goes is something you never forget.

Yeah, I once figured I could eyeball the tension because I was in a hurry. Spent twenty minutes setting up a perfect cut in some oak, then the second I turned it on the blade went full slinky and whipped right off the wheels. Scared me half to death and ruined the piece. My confidence took more damage than the wood.
