The great cable race: zip ties vs twist ties behind my desk

Last month I finally got sick of the spaghetti mess behind my computer desk. I had two options sitting in my junk drawer: a bag of 50 zip ties I bought for $3 at the hardware store, or a roll of twist ties I stole from a loaf of bread. I went with the zip ties because I thought they'd look cleaner. Big mistake. I cinched everything down too tight and realized I couldn't swap out my monitor cable without cutting the whole bundle apart. Now I'm using bread ties looped loosely around each cord, and it's way easier to pull one out without untangling the universe. Has anyone else found a weird household item that actually works better than the real stuff?

Actually the twist ties from bread bags work way better than zip ties for cables since you can just loosen them...

One friend used old binder clips and called it a life changer.
