Just wasted $75 on a 'professional' brush cleaner that wrecked my favorite set
Grabbed this fancy cleaner from a beauty supply rep last month, said it was safe for natural hair brushes. Used it once and it completely stripped the glue from my 3 best foundation brushes, handles came right off. Took them to my local shop and they said the cleaner was way too harsh, basically melted the adhesive. Now I'm out the cleaner cost plus the price of replacing brushes I've had for years. Anyone know a gentle, actually safe brush cleaner that works?

Baby shampoo is cheap and gentle enough for my expensive natural hair brushes.

Baby shampoo can strip the natural oils from those brushes over time.

Grab a bottle of the dollar store stuff and call it a day. Mine's held up fine through a few washes, but maybe I'm just lucky or my brushes are tougher than I thought. If they get brittle, I'll just blame the shampoo and buy new ones in two years.
