That client who asked for 'just a trim' still haunts me
Last Tuesday I had a lady sit in my chair at Shear Perfection in Austin and she said 'take off an inch' and then got mad when I cut exactly one inch. She swore I took three and started crying right there. I measured it with a ruler in front of her and she still didn't believe me. Has anyone else had a client argue about measurements even with proof?

The tape measure thing is wild because we literally bring out the tools now to prove it and they still argue. My coworker at the shop had a lady come in with a screenshot of a ruler on her phone once and held it up to her hair and said "see this is where it was" and we all just stood there trying not to laugh. It makes me wonder if some of these people genuinely can't see the difference because their idea of what an inch looks like is totally warped from staring at their own hair so long. Or maybe they're just embarrassed they said the wrong thing and double down instead of admitting it. I had one client who cried, then came back three weeks later and apologized because her husband measured it at home and proved it was exactly one inch. But most of them never come back to say sorry, they just find a new salon and start the cycle over with someone else.

Did your friend actually measure it with a tape or just eyeball it? My buddy who cuts hair over in Round Rock had a lady pull the SAME move, even brought a sewing ruler and showed her the before and after right on her own head and she still swore he took four inches. He told me later he just said "I'm sorry you feel that way ma'am" and handed her a mirror again. Some people just absolutely refuse to believe what's right in front of them.
