That keratin treatment I got cost me $300 and ruined my hair for 6 months
I went to a new salon last spring and the stylist talked me into a keratin treatment... said it would make my frizz disappear. Well, it did the opposite. My hair got so flat and brittle I had to cut 4 inches off. Has anyone else had a bad reaction to those treatments? What do you use instead for frizz control?

Ruined my hair for 6 months" sounds about right, I've seen a few cosmetology blogs warn that if they use too much formaldehyde or the wrong heat setting it basically cooks your hair. I stick with a silicone-free serum and a microfiber towel these days, takes a bit more effort but at least I'm not gambling $300.

Yeah but just a heads up, formaldehyde isn't really the issue with most salon treatments anymore. A lot of the cheaper keratin stuff used to have it, but most brands switched to methylene glycol or other aldehydes which are still harsh but less likely to literally cook your hair. The real problem is usually the heat settings and how long they leave the flat iron on each section. I've seen people walk out with fried ends not because of chemicals but because the stylist cranked it to 450 and went over the same strand four times. That said your microfiber towel routine is solid, I'd add a silk pillowcase too just to cut down on friction overnight.
