My art display lighting used to be a total mess

Back when I first started posting my digital paintings online, I just took photos of my tablet screen with my phone camera. The colors came out all washed out and grainy. About 8 months ago I finally bought a small ring light and started recording my process in 4k. Now my showcase posts actually show the real brightness and shading I work so hard on. Has anyone else struggled with getting their screen captures to look right for Instagram?

Just a heads up, ring lights are more for lighting your face or art in a video setup, not for improving screen captures. You'd probably get way better results using your computer or tablet's built-in screenshot tool instead.

Really feel for you there @terryr46, it's so easy to mix up what gear is actually useful for different stuff. I've definitely bought the wrong thing before and it's a bummer when it doesn't work how you hoped.

Lol I once spent an hour trying to brighten a screenshot before realizing my brightness was just turned way down.
