I used to think sketching was overkill until I messed up hanging curtain rods. I eyeballed the measurements and ended up with uneven brackets. Had to patch the walls and start over, which was a huge hassle. Now I always draw a quick layout for any wall mounting job. It saves so much time and frustration in the long run.
