inShoutout to sketching out even simple home fixes first
I used to think sketching was overkill until I messed up hanging curtain rods. I eyeballed the measurements and ended up with uneven brackets. Had to patch the walls and start over, which was a huge hassle. Now I always draw a quick layout for any wall mounting job. It saves so much time and frustration in the long run. A simple pencil sketch has become my go first step for even small projects.

inSwore off fly ash bricks until I saw how much they cut down on site waste.
So we're trading strength for less trash?

inPSA: I finally get why so many new street trees fail in my town
That whole neighborhood tree planting project last spring was a mess, @bailey.max. They buried every single one way too deep, just a straight pole coming out of the mulch. You could tell because the trunk never flared out at the bottom. It's like they thought the ground level was where the first roots started, not where the trunk naturally gets wider and those bigger surface roots begin. Your point about even an inch being crucial is spot on. Once you know to look for it, a properly planted tree is obvious because the base looks like it's sitting on top of the soil, not stuck in it.

inEveryone cares about gold, but broken tools tell the real story
Totally get that about the pot's wear marks. I read somewhere that the best Roman history is in the graffiti, not the monuments.

inMy peace lily surprised me when I skipped the misting
Ever think your tap water might be the culprit for the brown tips? My peace lily used to get them until I switched to leaving a jug of water out overnight before using it, seems the chemicals in tap water settle out.
