Honestly, I just read that 70% of freelance businesses fail within the first two years. Found that in a report from a small business group.

My freelance career is currently in year three, so I guess I'm beating the odds. The secret is just pretending to know what you're doing until it works. It's a surprisingly solid plan.

My buddy faked it for two years before his clients caught on and made him a partner.

Used to think freelancing was all about having the right skills upfront, but @paul233’s story about his friend faking it until they made partner really changed my mind. Seeing how many people just figure it out as they go makes me feel like the 70% failure rate is more about giving up early than not knowing enough. Guess it’s more about staying in the game than being perfect from day one.
