My car keys were in my hand one second and gone the next, then I found them in the freezer.

I was standing by the front door, felt them in my palm, and after blinking they were just gone, so I retraced my steps to the kitchen and opened the freezer door to get ice, and there they were sitting on a box of waffles.

Finding them on the waffles is the best part! I once lost my phone and found it in the fridge next to the milk. Our brains just go on autopilot sometimes and it's wild.

I always thought people who lost stuff in the fridge were just not paying attention. Then last month I spent twenty minutes looking for the TV remote before I found it chilling next to the butter. My autopilot is clearly broken.

dude @ruby561 you are NOT alone. i once found my car keys in the freezer, sitting right on top of a bag of frozen peas. i still have no idea how they got there or what i was thinking at the time. my theory is our brains just glitch out when we're tired or multitasking too hard. the remote chilling with the butter is actually pretty legendary though, ngl. at least it was somewhere clean and not in the trash or something.
