Used a kitchen knife to pry open paint cans for a year
Finally bought a proper 5-in-1 painter's tool at Ace Hardware for $6. That little hook on the end works way better than stabbing a paring knife into the lid. My wife caught me bleeding into the paint tray last Saturday and dragged me to the store. Has anyone else ruined a good kitchen tool before realizing there's a $5 fix?

Ace is usually a few bucks higher than Home Depot on that tool.

My old paring knife still has a bent tip from trying to pry open a stubborn gallon of Behr paint three years ago. The 5-in-1 tool cost me less than my last trip to Dairy Queen and honestly works ten times better. I guess I'm just the kind of person who has to bleed on something before admitting there's a simpler way to do it.
