Vent: My friend said learning to code was just memorizing syntax, and it made me quit for a month.

It's like thinking knowing how to use a hammer makes you a carpenter. The real work is in knowing what to build and how to put it together.

Rant: I bought a fancy floral foam that was a total waste of $80

Had the same thing happen with a brand called GreenHold last year... total mess. I switched back to Oasis and just soak it longer now, like 20 minutes instead of 10. The extra time makes a big difference for how firm it sets up.

Question about those portable laptop stands

Honestly, it feels like half of these "ergonomic" gadgets are just solving a problem they created. I mean, they sell you this idea of a perfect mobile office, but the stuff is always so flimsy. It's like we're all buying into this promise of a better work life, but the actual tools are cheap and frustrating. Makes me wonder if the goal is just to sell more stuff, not actually make things better. Your story with the stand is exactly that pattern.

Just saw a video where someone said AI can't make new ideas, only mix old ones, but that's not what I see with tools like Stable Diffusion.

Totally agree, it's way more than a remix. The other day I typed in a nonsense phrase about "glass trees with neon roots under a velvet sky" and it made this whole new aesthetic that felt completely alien. My friend who's an art teacher couldn't even place the influences. It's pulling stuff out of the noise that just wasn't there before.

Just wasted $40 on a cheap headset press that bent on the first job

Feel your pain on that one.
