TIL why that old leaded glass transom took me a full day to get out

That linseed oil smell is no joke! My uncle used it on his boat's wood trim once and we could smell it from the driveway. It did make the wood look amazing though, like dark honey.

Showerthought: my grandpa's old toolbox had way more universal parts than my modern one

Remember how we used to actually finish games, mark731? Now everything feels built to keep you paying forever.

Shoutout to the cafe in Medellin that saved my work week after a total internet meltdown

Isn't it funny how often our backup plans end up being better? I've seen this happen a lot, where a forced change of scenery, like @the_robert at the library, actually boosts focus. It makes me wonder if our usual spots just have too many built-in distractions. Getting stuck somewhere new can force a kind of reset that helps you power through work.

Heads up on those new Samsung fridge ice makers

That plastic inlet thing is a real weak spot. I had a buddy with the same model, and his started leaking slowly behind the fridge for weeks before he caught it. Warped the hardwood floor in a perfect line right where the water ran under the cabinet. The repair guy said he's seen a bunch of them already. Makes you wonder how something that basic gets through testing.

Heard a customer in Denver say 'just run it under the welcome mat' and I had to shut that down

People get way too worried about trip hazards. A welcome mat hides the line just fine and it's not like anyone is doing cartwheels on their front porch. Codes are just suggestions that make simple jobs cost more. That customer was trying to save money and you made it harder for them. A little common sense is better than following every rule in a book.
