inCan we talk about how repair software is pushing us away from hands-on fixes?
But is it really that big of a deal?

inStopped skipping the bilge pump test and it saved a client's boat!
My uncle's fishing boat had a bilge pump quit last year during a calm day. @caseyr78, that saying is catchy, but I'm not sure it's always true. Pumps can fail anytime if they aren't looked after, lol. It's more about poor upkeep than bad luck. I've seen pumps work fine when needed if they're checked before trips. So maybe it's just a handy excuse for not doing maintenance.

inWarning: My aloe pup was stagnant for a full year.
Neglect as a growth strategy? Never thought of that for aloe, lmao.

inMy skin went into full revolt after three days in the high desert
Watch how modern life builds this illusion of control over our environment, with perfectly humidity-controlled homes and ten-step skincare regimens. We forget that wind, sun, and arid air are actual physical forces until we step into a place like the high desert and our face literally cracks. It’s a primal reminder that we’re still animals interacting with a biome, not just consumers managing a complexion. My own ‘terrifying and enlightening’ reset happened on a camping trip in Utah, where my fancy moisturizer was about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.
